LAMPS Symposium is a virtual psychedelic conference exploring some of the most timely and controversial issues in psychedelics.
Our executive director Danielle Negrin will be speaking on a panel about using psychedelics to heal addiction.
Brought to you by the organizers of LAPSS 2018, this virtual conference will explore some of the most controversial issues in the psychedelic renaissance with professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds and with community members with lived experience.
The symposium will feature panels and talks focusing on four general areas of questioning:
Diversity, Equity, and Equal Access: How to Level the Playing Field
How do we encourage involvement from underserved and underrepresented communities?
How do we ethically and fairly handle issues of medicine sustainability?
Psychedelics and Capitalism: Money Changes Everything
How do we best proceed with the legalization vs. decriminalization battle?
What dangers may lie in the involvement of Big Pharma, with its monopolies and patenting?
What are the positive and negative aspects of the growing number of smaller for-profit, medicine-related companies entering the market?
Controversial Situations of Use
What role (if any) should psychedelics play in recovery and the treatment of addiction
What role could psychedelics play in religion?
What role could psychedelics play in off-label wellness applications, such as yoga, meditation, massage, and cognitive enhancement?
Standards of Care, Ethics, and Enforcement
How should we develop and enforce standards of care and training?
How much training (if any) should folks receive before they can call themselves a psychedelic “sitter,” “coach,” “therapist,” “psychotherapist,” “shaman,” or “guide”?
What resources should be made available to victims of abuse?
How should those who practice unethically (e.g., sexual violations, dangerous practices) be handled? What should a path to redemption look like?
There will also be panels/talks on MDMA, 5-MeO-DMT, internal family systems therapy, integration, psychedelic podcasting, and more!
